Consultant Clinical Toxicologist
Muhammad works as a Consultant Clinical Toxicologist with the UK National Poisons Information Service (NPIS-Birmingham unit) and the West Midlands Poisons Unit at City Hospital Hospital, Birmingham.
He completed his UK specialist training in General Internal Medicine & Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics followed by a one year Advanced Clinical Fellowship in Clinical Toxicology with the UK National Poisons Information Service (Newcastle unit).
He successfully completed an MSc in Medical Toxicology with Merit at Cardiff University. His project and dissertation was a cost benefit analysis of the NPIS telephone enquiry service & TOXBASE® in prevention of Emergency Department attendances from NHS primary care health services.
Muhammad is member of the Royal College of Physicians (London) and holds a postgraduate certificate in clinical education from Newcastle University and Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
He is interested in working with colleagues in establishing poisons information services and clinical toxicology training in the MENA region.
